Qorvo's ACT5101 is a buck-boost converter with 4 integrated MOSFETs. It offers a high efficiency, low component count, compact solution with a wide input voltage range for 4 to 23 V applications.
An advanced switch control algorithm allows the buck-boost converter to maintain output voltage regulation with input voltages that are above, below or equal to the output voltage. The system can be monitored and configured by I2C interface as well.
The built-in ADC can be read for the information of input/output voltages and currents, die temperature and generic input signals.
ACT5101 and ACT5102 are identical products except for the following differences:

This document describes the characteristic and operation of the Qorvo ACT5101EVK1-102 and ACT5102EVK1-102 evaluation kits (EVK). It provides setup and operation instructions, schematic, layout, BOM, and test data.
The ACT5101EVK1-102 demonstrates the ACT5101QI-102 power management IC.
The ACT5102EVK1-102 demonstrates the ACT5102QI-102 power management IC.
The two EVKs are very similar. The difference is that the ACT5101 output voltage is set by internal registers and it has A/D functionality. The ACT5102 output voltage is set by external resistors and it does not have A/D functionality.
Other ACT5101QIxxx and ACT5102QIxxx options can be evaluated on these EVKs by replacing the IC and any other necessary components.
The ACT5101 / ACT5102 Graphical User Interface (GUI) is packaged in a ZIP file that includes the software and all necessary drivers to communicate with the ACT5101EVK1-102 Evaluation Tool, as well as all descriptions how to use the tool.
This software GUI covers all available ACT5101 and ACT5102 options.
This ACT5101 + ACT4527 reference design demonstrates a 39W car charger with 27W USB-C and 12W USB-A outputs. It is USB PD 3.0 + PPS certified. It demonstrates the flexibility of the ACT5101 power management IC plus Cypress CYPD1275-24LQXQT USB PD3.0 controller to provide all USB charging protocols, including USB PD2.0, PD3.0, PD3.0 + PPS, QC2.0, QC3.0, Apple Charging, BC1.2, and more.
It serves as a good starting point for any car charging or USB hub design. The power profiles and communication protocols are easily configurable with FW modifications to the Cypress controller.
Simple FW changes have allowed certification for 27W to 45W USB-C power levels.
